Photographer and filmmaker Rich Allen spent his formative years in Barrington before launching careers in Boston and New York and then returning to RI — Bristol this time — in the 1970’s. He’s been here ever since.
Along the way he has written and directed many shorts, a handful of feature length films, and published a stunning book of his photographs taken in the New York City of the 1970’s called "Street Shots/Hooky NYC”. His films have since shown in film festivals worldwide and on PBS. He's been awarded fellowships in film from the National Endowment for the Arts, twice, as well as a New York CAPS fellowship.
