EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State University has announced a pause in the planned transfer of student psychiatric services to MSU Health Care.
The announcement of the transition originally followed the layoff of the director of Counseling and Psychiatric Services .
A University spokesperson stated on Thursday that while MSU had intended to shift psychiatric services to MSU Health Care, that transition is now on hold.
In a new statement, the University spokesperson said:
" The health and wellbeing of our campus community is our top priority. Over the course of several months analyzing data, University Health and Wellbeing (UHW) developed a plan to transition psychiatric services to MSU Health Care as part of greater efforts to achieve efficiency and optimize patient care.
