EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Two Mexican citizens are facing drug charges after U.S. Border Patrol agents allegedly found them walking near a highway in Jeff Davis County, Texas, with backpacks stuffed with marijuana.

The agents drove up to the isolated spot near the Mexican border after received alerts from surveillance camera operators about the two individuals making their way north towards Texas Highway 90 between Marfa and Van Horn at 3:40 a.m.

The two men allegedly ditched their backpacks and ran when they saw Border Patrol approach; they were apprehended four hours later after a search. The backpacks contained bundles of a leafy green substance that tested positive for marijuana.
