NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) - A man was struck and killed by a driver in New Haven late Wednesday night.
Police identified the victim as 58-year-old Jaime Melendez-Martinez of New Haven.
They said Melendez-Martinez was hit when he walked into the eastbound lane of Foxon Boulevard from a Walmart parking lot.
It happened around 10:15 p.m.
Police said Melendez-Martinez was crossing Foxon Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk and was struck by a driver who traveled east on Foxon Boulevard toward Quinnipiac Avenue.
“Melendez-Martinez was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” said Officer Christian Bruckhart, New Haven police. “His family has been notified.”
