SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Smithfield runner Joe dosReis continued his outstanding summer on the region’s road racing circuit by taking second place in two of Rhode Island’s premier races, the Blessing of the Fleet 10-Miler on Friday, July 25, in Narragansett and Sunday morning’s Run4Kerri race in the neighborhoods of Matunuck Elementary School.
Competing in a field of 2.805 runners at the Blessing’s 53rd annual event, dosReis, who had been battling an illness, clocked a time of 50:47 that was eight seconds behind the winner, Austin Gabay of Cinnaminson, N.J. In last year’s race, dosReis placed sixth in a time of 53:18, and in 2023, he finished seventh in 54:20.
And at Sunday’s four-mile race, which drew 534 runners, the 24-year-old standout clocked a time of 19:23 that was 14 seconds behind the
