Police have made an arrest following a firearms incident on the Roseau River First Nation.

Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) says that on Friday they responded to a report of a male threatening to shoot at a residence in the Roseau Rapids area.

While police were responding to the area, another call was reported of gun shots in the area from a moving vehicle. MFNPS members, assisted by outside police agencies, contained the area after locating the suspect vehicle at a local residence.

Police contacted the occupants, who surrendered peacefully. Police say a machete, replica firearm, and crossbow were seized after a search of the residence and vehicle. Further investigation could not confirm that a firearm was discharged.
