National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasters believe the 2025 hurricane season will still be "above-normal" in their updated predictions.

The mid-season update released by NOAA on Thursday predicts between 13 and 18 total named storms, including between 5 and 9 hurricanes with as many as 5 of those being major Category 3 hurricanes or higher. NOAA

The numbers are very similar to those released by NOAA in May , when they predicted 13-19 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes and 3-5 major hurricanes.

NOAA's predictions are for the entire season and include the four named tropical storms that have already formed this year.

The hurricane season officially began June 1 and ends November 30.
