LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. - A woman has been charged with attempted murder, with more charges expected, after placing a homemade explosive device on a car, the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office said.
On June 20, the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) responded to a report of a suspicious package on a car in southwest Lafayette County. The sheriff's office said the package was removed by the victim and secured by their deputies. Then, on June 23, LCSO brought in the Tupelo Bomb Squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
Upon examination, LCSO said, technicians found the package held a live homemade explosive device, "which was rendered safe in a secure area."
LCSO said they then launched a joint investigation with ATF, and identified their suspect at 27
