MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The City of Memphis is moving forward with the multimillion-dollar purchase of the Sheraton Hotel next to the convention center in Downtown Memphis.
Attorneys admit it is a complicated purchase that has involved about a dozen parties.
"It's not just a purchase of a real estate, it's not just a purchase of a hotel; you're purchasing an ongoing business," Andy Jones of Burch, Porter, and Johnson said on Tuesday.
One of the companies involved is Carlisle Corporation, which is run by Councilman Chase Carlisle's family.
Councilman Carlisle has recused himself from all public discussions on the matter, but his city bio indicates he is a senior advisor of Carlisle Leadership, "tasked with growing its local presence and focuses on consulting, asset management, and devel
