BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Today: We started the morning with a weaker wedge of high pressure still lingering along the East Coast. Skies have been mostly clear early on today. Flow aloft is out of the north to northeast as a ridge builds eastward from the Mid-Mississippi Valley. With only limited moisture in the mid-levels and some weak subsidence, storm coverage should stay isolated through the afternoon. A few disturbances in the northerly flow could provide just enough lift to spark a stray shower or two. Highs today will likely top out near 88, which is still a bit below normal thanks to the light easterly breeze.
