THE NEXT 24 HOURS: We’re kicking off Friday with temperatures in the low and mid-70s. A stubborn high-pressure system parked along the East Coast is still sending an easterly breeze our way, pulling in some slightly drier air. That means humidity won’t be quite as oppressive, and for most of us, the day will stay dry. The risk for rain today remains slim, but if you’re in northwest Alabama, you could see a quick shower or storm this afternoon. Overall, it’s a pretty nice Friday for early August.

THE WEEKEND AHEAD: As we roll into Saturday, that high pressure shifts and will try to let in some tropical moisture from the southeast. It’s taking its sweet time, though, so most of us will enjoy a mainly dry start to the weekend. B
