JONESBORO — A 7-year-old boy is safe after the Clayton County Police Department responded Wednesday afternoon to an Emerald Drive residence in reference to a welfare check.
“Due to the nature of the situation, the Clayton County Police Department’s SWAT Unit was activated,” a Thursday CCPD press release read. “After a period of negotiations, the child was safely released without injury. One individual was taken into custody as a result of the investigation.”
The police department said the incident remains under investigation.
