DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Music will fill the air in Canal Park every Thursday night in August thanks to the DECC’s “Music on the Ship.”

This event takes place each Thursday of the month atop the William A. Irvin.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 7 p.m. Attendance is free.

Flight of Stares , an independent rock band, kicks off the event.

The band was created over a decade ago in Crosslake, MN, starting as a group of friends in the church basement making music.

Now, the group is based in Duluth.

“Duluth has such an interesting, electric taste in music,” said guitar and trumpet player Phil Huss. “I think we fit in pretty well. We fit into the more piano rock realm. As time goes on a little bit more folk. That’s just how it works when you live in Duluth.”
