BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The North Dakota Public Service Commission approved a permit for a multi-billion-dollar power plant in Williams County. The decision comes more than a month after a public hearing over Basin Electric’s proposed Bison Generation Station.
It will be located between Epping and Ray, a few miles south of Highway 2.
Fueled by natural gas, the plant will produce more than 1,400 megawatts of power, which could cover the Bismarck-Mandan area four times over.
Officials with Basin Electric say the plant will help with the growing need for electricity in the region, especially for data centers and other industrial projects.
