TERRA ALTA, W.Va. (WV News) — A CSX train carrying empty hopper cars derailed at 6:30 a.m. Thursday just north of Bridge Street and Saltlick Road in Terra Alta.

There is no threat to the public following the derailment, according to a CSX representative.

Twelve empty hopper cars derailed, said Austin Staton, director of media relations for CSX.

“There were no leaks, spills or injuries reported, and there is no threat to the surrounding community,” Staton said in an email. “The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.”
