ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released their latest season outlook, keeping a high chance for an active season.

They’re now expecting 13 to 18 named storms. Out of those, 5 to 9 could become hurricanes, and 2 to 5 might reach major hurricane strength. NOAA's Augusts Updated Outlook

On average, the Atlantic hurricane season brings 14 named storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes.

As of their latest update, there’s a 50% chance we’ll see above-normal activity , a 35% chance of a near-normal season , and just a 15% chance it’ll be below normal .
