LAKE FOREST, Illinois — The Miami Dolphins’ 11-day preseason trip in Chicago and Detroit is especially unique for new reserve offensive tackle Larry Borom.

He’s from Detroit but played his first four NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears before signing with the Dolphins in free agency last March.

He returns to practice at his old digs at Halas Hall this week before facing the Bears in the preseason opener at Soldier Field on Sunday, but don’t expect him to go for any Giordano’s or Lou Malnati’s deep-dish pizza while in the greater Chicago area.

“I’m bigger on Detroit-style pizza,” Borom said. “The Chicago style with the fork and knife, you can keep that. … Everyone there loves Chicago pizza. I’m like, ‘Man, it’s OK.’ You can’t even pick it up.”
