KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) is sharing back-to-school safety tips ahead of the upcoming school year.

MSHP is encouraging parents to speak with their children about safety – and is also reminding drivers to be prepared for the change in traffic patterns as the school year kicks off.

In 2024, MSHP said seven people were killed and 345 were injured in traffic crashes involving a school bus. In Missouri last year, a total of 843 traffic crashes involved school buses, according to the highway patrol.
