A company selling gases, welding supplies and safety equipment illegally used a dangerous gas on North Jersey workers who’ve been on strike since June, according to a three-count suit filed in New Jersey Superior Court on Aug. 4.

The suit , which was filed by Teamsters Local 701, alleges that hazardous gases were released into the area where striking workers were picketing, once on July 8 outside of an Oakland facility in Bergen County, and another time on July 10 outside of an Illinois site.

The gases created a “dense white cloud plume which enveloped the area of picketing and a nearby public roadway,” according to the suit. Three employees ingested and inhaled the gases outside the Oakland site on July 8: plaintiffs Mario Aquije, Jabari Thompson and Jefferson Barragan.
