A driver was arrested in Royal Oak late Wednesday for driving over 100 mph in an active construction zone.

According to a post from Michigan State Police, a Metro North trooper was patrolling westbound Interstate 696 near Campbell Road when they saw a Dodge Durango traveling at a high speed.

In a 60 mph active construction zone, the driver was measured driving 101 mph before being stopped by authorities.

During the stop, the driver said he had a Glock .40 caliber handgun in a backpack on the front seat, according to MSP. The weapon was seized, and the driver was arrested. Prosecutors are determining what charges will be issued.
