PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC) celebrated the expansion of its Central location with a ribbon cutting Thursday morning.

Construction began last December thanks to $500,000 in federal funding secured by U.S. Sen. Jack Reed and a contribution from Neighborhood Health Plan of RI.

"We have to ensure that all Rhode Islanders have access to a wide range of medical services," Reed said. "It's investing in our community. It's investing in our people, and from that investment will come good things."

Reed emphasized the timely importance of Thursday's grand opening, due to the Trump administration's "attempt to gut our healthcare delivery system" through the recently signed "Big Beautiful Bill."
