FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Allen County Sheriff’s Department deputies visited with a 9-year-old girl who was hurt in a Monday crash.

The girl, named Molly, was hurt in a collision near the 297 mile marker on southbound I-69 that also left two adults injured. Police said a preliminary investigation showed the SUV Molly was riding in was struck by another SUV, pushing her vehicle into the back of a semi.

Two deputies, Ahmir Morgan and Andrew Baehl, visited her at the hospital on Tuesday after she was in surgery, bringing her a gift — a stuffed kitten she named Allen.

“Molly, you are officially part of our Allen County Sheriff’s family,” the department said in a Facebook post about the interaction . “We are in your corner... today, tomorrow, and always.”
