CHESHIRE, Conn. — Cheshire Municipal Animal Control seized 20 animals from a local home after a search last week, and those animals are now receiving care at various animal control facilities around the state.

Cheshire Animal Control executed a search and seizure warrant at a home on Cook Hill Road on Friday, Aug. 1, and took 13 cats and one dog from the home. Six more cats have since been removed by using traps left at the home.

The homeowner has been cooperative, according to Cheshire police.

There are 12 cats being housed at the Cheshire Animal Control, and the remaining animals were placed at both public and private animal control facilities around the state or are awaiting an initial assessment, scheduled for Thursday.
