Members of the Jacksonville community are invited to honor the brave men and women who were injured or lost their lives while serving in the U.S. military on Thursday near the city’s Veterans Memorial Wall.
At 6:30 p.m., the city of Jacksonville will commemorate “Purple Heart Day” with a ceremony featuring comments from Mayor Donna Deegan, a musical tribute from Navy Band Southeast.
The event will also feature the annual “Purple Heart Trail Walk,” which is a “reflective procession symbolizing unity, remembrance, and resilience.”
"Residents, veterans, families, and supporters are encouraged to attend and show their gratitude to the recipients of the Purple Heart Medal," city officials said in a news release.
The ceremony will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 1145 E. Adams St.
