EAST CHICAGO — Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant early Thursday morning at a residence in East Chicago, the 13th so-called nuisance property raided by police in the city this summer. Two people were taken into custody and will likely face charges.

Just after sunrise, authorities from the East Chicago Gang and Narcotics Division and the Northwest Regional SWAT team descended upon the property, 3620 Parrish Ave., and recovered an unspecified type and number of narcotics along with a firearm, police said. The target of the raid, plus a second person of interest, were taken into custody. Police are preparing criminal charges against both individuals to be forwarded to the Lake County Prosecutor's Office for review and likely approval.
