BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A manhole cover on West Roosevelt Street, directly in front of McKinley Elementary School in Baton Rouge, has the internet talking and joking after a video surfaced showing the cover shifting and tilting.
The short clip shows the round, metal cover in place, but it rocks slightly and rapidly, as if something underneath is pushing up against it. You can hear the quick tapping of the cover against the manhole.
There are no visible vehicles, pedestrians, or construction equipment nearby that could be causing the movement.
Naturally, social media users had theories.
Some compared the scene to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ secret lair, while others referenced Pennywise, the clown from It , who famously lurks in storm drains.
