ORLANDO, Fla. (WCTV) - Marva Johnson is hitting the ground running as Florida A&M’s new president.

On Thursday, Johnson spoke at the board of trustees retreat in Orlando.

She said she has a detailed plan for her first 100 days as president. It involves getting a handle on university finances, improving efficiency and prioritizing student success.

Johnson said she has already met with FAMU’s senior leaders and heard input from community members, some of whom came up to her on the street. She’s encouraging students to share, too.

“To listen to students, but listen to them in a very natural setting and to make sure that I’m being earnest in my effort to understand where they are and understand their need to be heard,” she said.
