WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCBD) - A local woman in Walterboro heard clearly for the first time in 8 years today, and the gift came from a national nonprofit.
"If you're facing her, she can hear a little, but if you're behind her, she can't hear you at all" said Barbara Washington, the mother of Carlise Washington.
For 26 year old Carlise Washington, today was more than just a doctors visit. Carlise received the gift of sound thanks to a national nonprofit, the Miracle Ear Foundation, and her Walterboro community.
"I've seen her run and just hug people. She's hugged stranger and I've seen them cry, because they said, 'I needed that hug'", said Barbara. She added anyone would be amazed at the light inside of Carlise, and that she's also prayed for people in Walmart.
