The Coharie Tribe has become the recipient of a grant to help install a new mural.
The grant is from the Z. Smith Reynolds foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Winston-Salem, in order to help the tribe beautify its grounds in Clinton. The foundation is devoted to giving back to the North Carolina community in order to help create a more sustainable and inclusive environment.
The grant includes money to help install a new mural and sculpture. The tribe already has one mural and their sculpture completed and will be installing a second mural in the coming days. To highlight the new mural, the tribe will be hosting a community day on Saturday, Aug. 9, between 1-4 p.m. that will mostly be open to the public. The event will be held at the tribe’s primary location, the Coharie Tribal
