Trash collection is still delayed in many places throughout the Toledo area, but local officials are urging residents to have patience and leave their containers out until their service is complete.

Solid waste collection company Republic Services is currently in contract negotiations with the Teamsters Local 179 in Joliet, Illinois, but local union employees in Erie, Michigan are not crossing the picket line, causing some disruptions in service.

“Tuesday was the initial impact day,” Joe Shaw, service director for the city of Sylvania, said. “Actually, I was contacted Monday night about delays in service.”

Monday night was also when the city of Maumee notified residents about delayed services. The cities of Toledo and Oregon followed, as did Monclova Township.
