HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WFLA) — A Homestead charter school teacher is facing a charge for child abuse after police said she threw a shoe and hit one of her students in the forehead.
The incident happened in late February as Sandra Marta Colombo, 61, was teaching at The Charter School at Waterstone, according to an arrest report obtained by NBC 6 South Florida.
Witnesses in the classroom told investigators Colombo threw a sandal at a student who was "misbehaving," but missed and hit another child.
Another student said the teacher was trying to get someone's attention.
One student described Colombo "throwing the shoe hard with one hand over the head," the report said.
The victim said the shoe hit her in the forehead, but she didn't have any marks or bruises, according to police.
