HOMOSASSA, Fla. (WFLA) -- A person is barricaded inside of a home in Homosassa after law enforcement responded to a reported domestic disturbance involving gunfire on Friday.

Citrus County deputies were called to a home on South Palmer Avenue at around 9 a.m., where they heard more shots fired.

The sheriff's office said SWAT and crisis negotiation teams have been called out to get the "armed individual" to exit the home.

"We recognize the concern this incident may cause the community, and we want to assure the public that the scene is contained," the sheriff's office wrote in a Facebook post. "We are asking for continued patience as this remains an active and evolving situation."
