PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Those who have made mistakes in the past are stepping up to help other young people avoid getting caught up in the cycle of violence, thanks to the help from a Peoria group.

“That’s what we do here. It’s not show and tell. It’s truth, it’s reality, it’s hope that hey, if you want to stop going through this revolving door, then we have a program for you,” said Angel Cruz, the reentry case manager at the Peoria County Jail.

That program is the Elite Community Outreach Reentry Program at the Peoria County Jail, where a select group of men and women undergo an intensive 10-week course.
