PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) -- Western Minnesota Municipal Power Agency intends to build a powerplant south of the Deuel County community of Toronto in eastern South Dakota and sell the electricity to Missouri River Energy Services.
They jointly filed a permit application on Thursday with the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission.
As one of the first steps in considering the application, the commission has scheduled a community input meeting at the Deubrook Elementary School gym in Toronto on September 24, starting at 5:30 p.m. CT.
The 145-megawatt plant would be fueled primarily by natural gas, with fuel oil as a backup.
