SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The threat for severe weather has returned to KELOLAND.

Meteorologist Jaelyn Borresen explains how you can keep yourself and others safe.

After we had the chance for severe weather last night in northern KELOLAND, there is another for Friday East River as a cold front passes by. With all modes of severe weather possible, it will be important to stay sky aware and have a safety plan in place just in case storms develop.

While a watch signals that conditions are favorable for severe weather, a warning means it is time to act. Severe thunderstorm warnings can carry life-threatening hazards, like extremely large hail and wind gusts over 70 MPH.

This can be just as serious as a tornado warning.
