SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) -We have settled into a very persistent weather pattern in the ArkLaTex where upper-level high pressure keeps temperatures hot and prevents any significant rain. It still appears that a strong tropical disturbance could threaten the Gulf in a few weeks.

Tropical worries: No short-term changes since yesterday in the tropics. The National Hurricane Center continues to watch three tropical disturbances in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Dexter has lost most of its tropical characteristics and continues to move away from the US. There is a small chance that a disturbance off the coast of the Carolinas will develop into a depression. A second disturbance out in the Atlantic has the best chance of developing. Neither of these systems will likely threaten the US coast.
