EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The mother of a 4-year-old girl who died from blunt force trauma has been sentenced to prison.

Court records show Destiny Rhoades was sentenced to 20 years in prison followed by 5 years on non-reporting probation on Thursday.

Rhoades was arrested alongside her 16-year-old boyfriend, Christian Gonzalez, for the death of 4-year-old Octavia Aquino. Gonzalez was already sentenced to 60 years for Aquino's murder.

Coroner's office releases new details in the death of 4-year-old

While the murder case against Gonzalez went to trial and a jury found him guilty, Rhoades accepted a plea deal in her case.

Court records show Rhoades pled guilty to one count of neglect resulting in death, and had two other charges dismissed.
