MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - A Colorado immigrant rights advocacy organization called Mesa County's lawsuit against state officials "legally misguided" and "morally reprehensible" in a fiery response Thursday.
The Mesa County Commissioners approved to file a lawsuit Tuesday against Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser and Gov. Jared Polis, saying a new statute regarding it as unconstitutional. The law just went into effect June 1, says local governments – including police departments and sheriff’s offices – cannot share personal identifying information with federal immigration enforcement.
