FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The American Cancer Society is kicking off its local ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ campaign Thursday.
From 5 to 7 p.m., community members gathered at Parkview Field for a celebration to ‘help end breast cancer as we know it – for everyone’.
In its 28th year, the campaign ‘provides a supportive community for breast cancer survivors and metastatic breast cancer thrivers, caregivers, and families alike’.
Thursday’s kick-off celebration is held ahead of the ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ walk held in October.
The goal of the campaign is the raise over $155,000 and have more than 1,500 people participate in the walk.
