SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A mother has been arrested after police say she left her two-year-old alone in a hot car.

August is typically the hottest month of the year, and even a short time inside a hot car can turn deadly.

Around 10:30 a.m., officers were called by a concerned citizen who claimed to have seen a child unattended in the back seat of a parked vehicle.

Officers arrived and located the child, who they say was found left alone and strapped to a car seat in a hot, turned-off vehicle outside the Walmart on Westport Drive.

The window had been rolled down, however, due to high temperatures, the interior of the car was reported to be dangerously hot.
