OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - There’s a saying that goes “If everyone says it, then it must be true.”
Out of everyone that we talked to, the words we kept hearing to describe Leon Thompson were caring, supportive, and a leader, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Leon Thompson was a father, husband, teacher, and a leader in the community.
He wore many hats, teaching for 32 years at what’s now known as Oshkosh West High School, launching the Youth Leadership Oshkosh program to help students build self-confidence, as well as coaching baseball and golf.
But his legacy went far beyond the field and classroom.
“He would see something in everyone. Regardless of if they saw it or not, and he would have this special way just to tease that out of them,” says his son, Ben Thompson.
After
