LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) returned on Thursday with a new superintendent. That's Brian Yearwood, who strolled through Iroquois High School with Principal Toetta Taul.

"I love it," Yearwood said, shaking hands and bumping fists in the packed hallways.

During the stop, Yearwood caught the minute of silence now required in all Kentucky public schools after Senate Bill 19 passed this year . He used his minute reflecting on the 1,225 students here, and beyond.

"It could be your own child in this building, or own brother or sister, just coming in to become all they can be," he said. "That's what I was wishing for."
