PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Thursday turned out to be one for the weather history books. The mercury went up to 118 degrees around 3:40 p.m., making it the hottest temperature ever recorded in August for Phoenix.

The temperature hit 116 degrees just before 1 p.m. in Phoenix, breaking the previous daily record of 112 degrees set back in 2012 and 1905.

High temperatures are not the only record to fall. The morning low temperature in Phoenix only dropped to 94 degrees by about 5 a.m. on Thursday, breaking the previous record warm overnight low of 91 degrees set back in 2023.

Chances for rain stay limited to the eastern Arizona higher terrain, with better chances as we head into the weekend. Some moisture moving in from the south will raise dew points tomorrow morning, so it may feel a little hum
