Ind. (WNDU) - The fall 2025 semester has kicked off in some of our areas and there are some changes coming to our Indiana schools.

It doesn’t feel like fall at all, but the fall 2025 semester is about to or has just kicked off in Michiana.

There are some new laws taking into effect to Indiana schools that you should know about.

According to Indiana Department of Education, one out of five Hoosier students were chronically absent during the 2023-24 school year.

That means those students miss about 10-percent or more of school for any reason.

Now, state legislators are responding with Senate Bill 482 .

This new law requires local schools to create a list of students who are chronically absent.
