BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Air quality in the state has been noticeably bad, as Canadian wildfires continue to rage.
Summer heat traps polluted air in place, which worsens the air quality. This makes breathing harder and puts those with respiratory issues at risk.
Dr. Neelu Tummala, an ear, nose and throat surgeon, explains the situation and gives advice on how to stay safe.
“Poor air quality is a significant public health concern, and that it is a health issue that affects not just the lungs, but it can travel inside the body and affects our cardiovascular health. It can affect our mental health, it can for pregnant women. It can affect birth outcomes,” said Tummala.
Tummala said it’s important to check air quality levels regularly. When air quality is poor, limit your time outside, keep
