BOWIE, Md. — Proposals are wanted for a 4.6-acre MARC station and community next to Bowie State University.
The plan was rolled out by Gov. Wes Moore and officials from the Maryland Department of Transportation on Thursday with the blessing of the historically Black university's leadership.
With a $1.5 million budget, supported by a transportation trust fund, the project was touted by Moore as both a job creator and a game-changer in Prince George's County's ongoing housing shortage. The governor said 400 housing units would be built next to the station.
"The 4.6-acre state-owned site represents an opportunity to create a vibrant, mixed-use community centered on public transit, as well as the growing Bowie State University campus," Moore said, adding that he believed the project would s
