HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - As students in North Alabama head back to school, school resource officers play a crucial role in ensuring their safety. Jesse Burns, a school resource officer at Forest Hills Elementary, shared insights into his daily routine and responsibilities.
Burns said, "A lot of them this is really their first interaction with a police officer."
Burns, new to Forest Hills Elementary, is already familiar with the essential safety procedures. He collaborates with school administration to address any safety concerns that may arise.
"We work with the administration if any safety concerns come up," Burns said. "And then go around and start checking classroom doors and making sure that the campus is secure."
