STURGIS, S.D. (KELO) -- It's a milestone year for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Bikers are rolling through the Black Hills for the 85th event.

At the Sturgis Buffalo Chip, CEO Rod Woodruff had noticed a flurry of people when KELOLAND News talked with him earlier in the rally.

"There's a lot more people here than I expected. We started right off, people started coming earlier, more people coming earlier than usual," Woodruff said.

The venue offers camping, concerts and entertainment, and more.

Buffalo Chip has grown since it got its start in the early 1980s.

More than 40 years later, visitors are still making rally memories at Buffalo Chip.

"I've heard from people around here just doing an assessment, 'What is it about this place?' And more than one person says there's a spirit here.
