WAIPAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Rocky’s Coffee Shop is a breakfast-brunch gem in Waipahu that’s been around for over 60 years.

It opened in 1959 on Waipahu Depot Road by the Ishii family.

“My father opened up Rocky’s Coffee Shop with two of my brothers,” said Susan Miyashiro, who grew up in Waipahu. “I think that the tenants (before them), they wanted to close, and I think my father or my brother, someone knew them and so because of that they wanted to lend a hand or try opening up a business.”

Miyashiro added, “They already had a lunch wagon and my mom loved to cook and my sister-in-law loved to cook, so because of that, they said, well, why don’t we try it?”
