A 19-year-old man was taken to the hospital this morning after suffering an apparent head injury while surfing at China Walls.

The incident occurred just before 11 a.m. in Portlock. Honolulu Ocean Safety and the Fire Department responded, and the surfer was brought back to shore. He had reportedly hit his head on the wall.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services treated the surfer and took him to a hospital in serious condition.
